Over the last month or so, we’ve been experimenting with a new service to be added to the Jigsaw repertoire. This new service comes in the form of a URL shortener.
What is a URL Shortener?
As the internet continues to grow, web site addresses (URLs) are forced to get longer and longer as people and businesses struggle to find available names. When you couple this with the massive increase in social networking sites and facilities, copying and pasting long and complicated addresses to share your favourite sites with your friends can get tricky.
JGSW.me is our new URL shortener, a service which allows you to copy and paste the long address you want to share with your friends, and turn it into a tiny, easily manageable address.
For Example If you wanted to share a link to this new article (the URL of this page being http://jigsawspain.com/a-new-piece-to-the-puzzle/) you could instead share http://jgsw.me/5tokam, perfect for keeping your tweets and facebook updates short and to the point.
What else can JGSW.me do?
All your JGSW.me ShortURLs are linked to your email address. By logging into your JGSW account, you can get statistics about how your links are being used, including how many people have used it, where they found it and what browser they were using when they did it. As we continue to develop the service we will be adding a wide array of statistics so you can see exactly what is going on with your links.
TIP: Set up multiple ShortURLs for different pages in your blog to find out which pages are popular and where people are finding your links!
So what are you waiting for? Head over to JGSW.me now and say “JGSW me!”
